"Criminal gangs often use staff recruited through agencies to access company secrets. "

Recruitment Agencies
Increasingly Recruitment Agencies are being asked by employers to ensure that all contract and temporary staff are properly screened before they are placed with them. Employers are increasingly worried that criminal elements are using staff recruited through recruitment agencies to infiltrate their organisation, given the perceived lack of any effective pre employment screening agencies undertake prior to placing staff with an employer. Indeed there have been several high profile instances of contract and temporary staff accessing company assets and data for illegal gain, situations which could have been easily avoided had pre employment checks been undertaken beforehand.
The financial and reputational impact upon recruitment agencies of not undertaking pre employment checks upon their staff could be considerable especially if employers start to demand financial compensation for losses incurred through negligent recruitment agency actions. Worse case scenario is that agencies may be forced to close down through lack of financial resources.
